In The Box Charters LLC

Your fishing adventure will be aboard our boat, “In The Box”. It is a pure fishing machine. Our 23 foot Sylvan Offshore Fisherman features an aluminum hull with a 5.7 L Mercruiser and an Alpha 1 out drive.

The aluminum hull makes the boat easier to trailer to where the fish are (for example, to Racine or Kenosha for the early spring coho run). In addition, we are not bound by “seasons” at the marina. We can start in April with the spring brown trout, and go into November with the fall king run. The 8.5 foot wide beam and deep V hull provide stability during higher seas.

The 5.7 L Mercruiser and Alpha 1 out drive, on a lighter aluminum hull, give this boat plenty of power and speed to get us to the fish and home again. With a standard load, she tops out at 40 MPH, and cruises at over 30 MPH. When coupled with the 80 gallon fuel tank, we have an effective range of over 150 miles to find fish!

Although the main focus of our boat is catching fish, there are a few creature comforts as well. Our boat has a cuddy cabin to offer refuge from the elements, with padded seating and porta-potty. In addition, there is a bimini top with optional sides to offer protection from the weather. There is an AM/FM radio, and a couple of 12 volt accessory plugs for additional needs.

 We are set up with 4 electric downriggers. 2 Canon Mag 10 electrics with 5 foot adjustable booms for the out-downs, and 2 Walker electrics with 2 foot booms for the back. In addition, there is a pair of Big John adjustable rod holders on each side, and a fixed position rod holder straight off the back. All set up on a sturdy, elevated aluminum trolling board that provides safety and security when setting lines and fighting fish.

The electronics on In The Box are also pure fishing. All are fixed mount, and duplicated for safety. The main unit is a Lowrance X-15 MT, which features a combination sonar/GPS platform with dual map card capabilities. In addition we have a Garmin E-Trex Legend GPS both wired and with battery backup.  Trolling information is gathered from our Depth Raider speed and temperature probe.

The remainder of the fishing rod holders are Bert's track mounts. A 3 rod bird tree on each side provides us the opportunity to run multiple planer boards requiring less space.  In addition, there are several single rod holders for running divers and flat-lines.  The use of a track system allows us to change our configuration to whatever is needed.
